The Dublin Irish Festival began in 1987 at Coffman Park in Dublin, Ohio, as a modest gathering of 350 Irish step dancers performing by vehicle headlights after the Columbus Feis. By 1989, the festival welcomed its first national band, Mick Moloney’s Green Fields of America. Over the years, it gained popularity, featuring musical acts such as Irisheer and Irish Brigade. In 1992, the City of Dublin became the event’s lead sponsor, and by 1993, attendance exceeded 10,000. In 1996, due to the festival’s growth, it expanded into a three-day event, attracting tens of thousands of guests and renowned performers.
Today, the Dublin Irish Festival draws over 100,000 attendees during its three-day celebration. To ensure a memorable guest experience and foster community engagement, the City of Dublin partners with local organizations to recruit beverage servers, offering them fundraising opportunities in return. Each year, over 1,100 individuals act as servers for the festival.
One of the main reasons that the City of Dublin has remained a client of Carr Engineering Inc. (VolunteerHub) for so many years is the excellent implementation process, training, support, and communication that they provide.
From day one, VolunteerHub provides clients with a path toward the successful use of the software and helps to create an experience for each organization's specific use case.
“Being a client of VolunteerHub for so many years, I have seen consistent and constant improvements on the front and back end of the software. I have been impressed with the training VolunteerHub provides and the ability to access webinars on specific topics of interest,” said Trish Lackey, Event Administrator for the City of Dublin.
“I love that VolunteerHub stands behind its software and provides the support, training, and functionality to get the most value possible,” said Trish
The City of Dublin has remained a loyal client of Carr Engineering Inc. (VolunteerHub) to help manage festival volunteers thanks to the platform’s exceptional implementation process, ongoing support, and commitment to innovation.
“Over the years, I’ve seen VolunteerHub continually improve both the front-end and back-end of the software,” said Trish Lackey, Event Administrator for the City of Dublin. “The training provided and access to webinars on relevant topics have been particularly valuable.”
“I appreciate that VolunteerHub consistently delivers the support, training, and features needed to maximize its value,” Trish added.
In 2020, the City of Dublin elevated its use of VolunteerHub by integrating it with Xcelerate Media’s Learning Management System (LMS). This integration allows the city to deliver mandatory online training for servers before they schedule their shifts.
By adopting this integrated approach, the City of Dublin has saved countless hours of administrative time and improved the training experience. The addition of online training has also been a critical asset during the COVID-19 pandemic, offering a safe and efficient alternative to in-person sessions.
“One of the most impactful features of VolunteerHub is its seamless SSO integration with Xcelerate Media,” said Trish Lackey. “This integration has transformed our process for training beverage servers.
