Girls Inc. of Orange County is on a mission to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. The nonprofit organization has been making a positive impact, within the Orange County community, for more than 65 years. The affiliate was founded in 1954 and is part of Girls Inc.’s national nonprofit organization with 80 affiliates across the United States and Canada. Girls Inc. of Orange County provides holistic, compensatory, and intentional programming that focuses on STEM, financial literacy, sound body image, healthy relationships, and college/career readiness to prepare girls for the future.
The focus of the organization’s programs is to improve self-esteem, boost grades, prepare for higher education, and create economically independent women in the community. Each year, Girls Inc. of Orange County programs support more than 4000 girls, ranging in age, from kindergarten to 18.
“We are humbled to be able to reach over 4000 girls in the community each year and recognize the continued importance of our mission and the impact that it has on the people we serve,” said Stephanie Mendoza, Volunteer Services Manager, Girls Inc. of Orange County.
Volunteers, providing support to Girls Inc. of Orange County, play a pivotal part in allowing the organization to fulfill its mission. The organization utilizes, on average, the support of 600 volunteers per year directly and through their partnership with schools, community centers, and local colleges. Volunteers fill a variety of roles and support the organization across several capacities, including working directly with the girls via organization programs and providing fundraising support.
