Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity has seen substantial improvements in volunteer recruitment, engagement, and reporting after switching to VolunteerHub from another volunteer management software provider.
Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity, an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI), has a vision of “a world where everyone has a decent place to live”. This vision is incorporated into all the services that Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity provides to the Lucas County, OH community. The organization, which was established in 1988 by community and congregational volunteers, provides the Lucas County community with several programs.
These programs include homeownership, home repairs, and access to its ReStore, a brick-and-mortar location where people can donate or purchase (at reduced cost) construction materials, household items, furniture, and more. Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity and its programs have made a big difference in the community. In 2019, the organization provided housing for seven families in Lucas County, replaced 53 roofs, built 40 playhouses for families, and celebrated its 15th anniversary of the ReStore.
Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity relies on volunteers to help it reach its goal of making an impact in the community. Volunteerism is ingrained into the organization’s mission of “Seeking to put God’s love in action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope”. In 2019, Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity utilized the support of over 1,700 volunteers who filled over 22,000 hours of service. Volunteers support the organization through the crucial roles of providing support and expertise on construction sites, serving on committees, participating in community events, or working in the ReStore.
“Our volunteers make a difference and have the opportunity to change lives (including their own) every time they fill a role. Our organization would not be able to reach its mission without their selfless support,” said Dawn Hammer, Volunteer Manager for Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity.
Finding a Streamlined Volunteer Management Solution
Since volunteerism plays such a vital role for Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity and its goals, the organization needs to have a streamlined volunteer management process.
